The joys of being a published author!

Being published for the first time has been an incredible experience. I really hope that my poems help spark debate about important issues like the legacy of colonialism, race, class and social justice as demonstrated by the War on Terror and solitary confinement in carceral settings. I strongly believe that speaking out about the construction of identity and privilege sheds a light on the structural inequalities in global society and provides a voice for the otherwise voiceless. I also want to thank Professors Zalewski and Kirkup of Cardiff University for supporting me and showing an interest in my poetry book.

Moreover, I think that promoting my book through the use of social media platforms like Twitter has enabled my book to reach a wider audience. Another benefit of social media promotion has been creating my own publicity and interacting with readers directly rather than indirectly. Branching out on Twitter and finding like-minded people has enabled me to make those connections, literary or otherwise, which enrich my poetic sensibilities and help me find inspiration.

I appreciate the work that Austin Macauley are doing to further promote, 'Postcolonial Metaphysics' such as setting up my own author website. I would also like to thank my family, especially my mum, Rubina, and my brother, Rayyan, for holding my hand throughout this journey. I would not have been able to do this without you!
